While macrophages play an important role in scavenging microorganisms and foreign materials, they are actively involved in the tissue remodeling during the organ development and establishment of acquired immunity. They also are deeply involved in the process of many kinds of diseases by producing various bioactive molecules. 0ur department focuses on the various functional molecules such as scavenger receptors to disclose their roles in various pathological conditions including inflammatory diseases, atherosclerosis and cancer.
