Research theme
The Department of Forensic Medicine performs all forensic autopsies in Kumamoto Prefecture. In addition to gross autopsy, various tests are performed to determine the cause of death, including toxicology, personal identification such as blood grouping and DNA typing, and postmortem imaging. Our Department of Forensic Medicine conducts a wide range of research based on problems arising in forensic practice. Based on these research activities, we aim to develop new testing methods, deepen the investigation of causes of death and contribute to society.
