Application Guidelines for AY2022 Research Internship

This is an information of Research Internship in 2022.
・Person who wish to enter Graduate school of Medical Sciences Kumamoto University
・An undergraduate student, a graduate student who enroll at university/college outside Japan, or work outside Japan
・Person who are interested in research of medicine and life sciences
About 2 to 4 weeks until February 28, 2023
Graduate school of Medical Sciences and host laboratory decide on the program in view of application contents.
・Internship fee:Free
・Scholarship allowance will be as follows. (Up to 220,000 yen per student)

・Scholarship will be paid by telegraphic transfer to applicant’s bank account of his/her home country after internship program completes.
* The scholarship for the program is not granted to students who have already received other scholarships or research subsidies with the aim of supporting their activities at Graduate School of Medical Sciences Kumamoto University
(1) Required Documents
2) A letter of recommendation from a professor or research supervisor who can evaluate the applicant’s ability in study and research
3)An academic transcript of enrolled university or final academic transcript.
4) An English Proficiency test score (TOEIC or TOEFL etc.)

(3) Place to submit documents
Required documents must be submitted to the office of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences by the host supervisor.
The screening committee selects internship students based on documents submitted.

9.Internship student’s obligation
・Internship student must obtain a visa to enter Japan
・Internship student must reserve air tickets and accommodation for the program by himself/herself.
・Internship student must submit a report when the internship program complete.
・If an internship student loses or damages the facilities, machines, and equipment of the University due to intentionally or gross negligence during the internship period, he/she shall promptly restore or compensate for the damage.
・Internship students must buy a travel insurance by himself/herself.
・Internship student must follow this application guidelines, the rules of Kumamoto University and
host supervisor’s instructions.
A certificate of completion will be issued after internship program complete.

(Index Formula)
([number of GP3 credits] x 3) + ([number of GP2 Credits] x 2) + ([number of GP1 credits] x 1) + ([number of GP0 credits] x 0)/ Total Number of Registered Credits
*Only the credits of the regular courses shall be counted. The credits as a research student nor of a Japanese language school cannot be counted for grades.
*For the mature students, the grade of the last education shall be calculated. For the current students, the grade of the current school shall be calculated.
(Note 1) If your course is not a credit system, replace the number of credits in the index formula with the number of courses taken.
(Note 2) If you are a transfer student, use the number of credits after the transfer.
(Note 3) Any descriptions of grades other than ones in the table above (such as “qualification”, “pass”, etc.) are not applicable for the calculation.
(Note 4) Round down to the 2nd digit from the decimal point, if the calculated GPA has fraction.
