New Research Publication by Doctoral Student Kaoru Morikawa!

A research paper titled “Nonsteroidal Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonist Finerenone Ameliorates Cardiac Hypertrophy with Increasing Glucocorticoid Signaling Sensitivity”, co‑authored by Mr. Kaoru Morikawa (4th‑year doctoral student, Graduate School of Medical Sciences), together with Associate Professor Yuichiro Arima, Researcher Akira Fujiyama, and fellow doctoral students Mr. Takumi Nagakura and Ms. Yuqing Xu from our laboratory, was published online in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications on January 21, 2026. This publication has been added to the “Achievements” page as one of the recent accomplishments of our laboratory.

[Paper Summary]

This study investigated the effects of the novel mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) finerenone in a mouse model of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The authors examined the hypothesis that restoring the balance between mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) and glucocorticoid receptor (GR) signaling in cardiomyocytes plays a key role in suppressing cardiac hypertrophy.
