A medical student from Mahidol University in Thailand has successfully completed a four-week research internship program at the Department of Anatomy, Kumamoto University. This program was conducted as part of the Medical Student Exchange Program based on the mutual exchange agreement with the Kumamoto University School of Medicine.

The primary objective of this program was to help the student understand the field of basic medical research and gain hands-on experience in practical research.

During the internship, which began on May 13, the exchange student actively worked on tasks related to the department’s research fields and participated in laboratory experiments using mice. The student also deeply engaged in both academic and cultural exchanges by attending an international symposium held on campus, participating in lab meetings, and conducting experiments alongside Kumamoto University medical students who were also undergoing their medical research training.

On the final day, a farewell lunch was held, during which the exchange student reflected on his research activity, expressed gratitude to the department members, and brought the highly productive internship period to a successful close.

The Department of Anatomy sincerely wishes the student the absolute best and hopes this experience bears great fruit in their future medical and research career. The department is also delighted that this international exchange provided wonderful inspiration for students from both universities.

Moving forward, the Department of Anatomy will continue to actively promote international research collaboration and the development of young researchers.
