As part of the curriculum of the Graduate School of Medical Education at our university, the “Medicine and Life Sciences Seminar” is held regularly. For the session, held on August 18, 2026, Associate Professor Arima of our department served as the coordinator. He welcomed Dr. Toshiyuki Ko from the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo as the guest lecturer, who delivered an English presentation titled “Single-Cell Multi-Omics Analysis for Heart Failure.”
Prior to the seminar, Dr. Ko and Associate Professor Arima had a friendly and relaxed discussion, exchanging updates on their recent research progress. It was a pleasant meeting before the session began.
In Dr. Ko’s lecture, he introduced cutting-edge multi-omics approaches—integrating single-cell analyses such as scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, and snATAC-seq with spatial transcriptomics—to elucidate the pathogenesis of heart failure. He provided a systematic overview of related research findings and also presented several ongoing projects in heart failure research. This seminar offered graduate students a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field.
Through this seminar, participants gained important insights into the forefront of heart failure research and new perspectives enabled by single-cell technologies. We sincerely thank Dr. Toshiyuki Ko for providing such a meaningful learning opportunity, and we extend our gratitude to all attendees for their participation.
Our department will continue to invite leading researchers from Japan and abroad, providing students with opportunities to encounter cutting-edge science and enrich their academic growth through active scholarly exchange.
