Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic imaging plays a very important role for patients’ management. Diagnostic imaging includes various radiological modalities including plain radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, angiography and endoscopy. The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Kumamoto University is a highly specialized department which strives to perform clinical and basic studies in every field of diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive image-guided therapy, so called interventional radiology. Kumamoto University is recognized as a world leader in radiological research in the field of abdominal, neuroradiology, and cardiovascular imaging. We are now incorporating functional information on morphologic information derived from CT or MR data. In addition, we are actively engaged in research on diagnostic imaging using artificial intelligence and clinical application of novel advanced technologies.
