We have decided to establish, as part of the Kumamoto University Graduate School Doctoral Course Scholarship Program (KDS), which has been in operation since AY 2010, a \u201cQuota for Privately-funded International Students\u201d for international students who are studying at their own expense at Graduate School at Kumamoto University, and who have participated in projects which have been intensively supported for the purpose of establishing internationally outstanding centers of excellence or in projects that apply correspondingly. This quota will be applied to relevant privately-funded international students who are enrolled in Kumamoto University Graduate School Doctoral Courses as of May 1, 2024.<\/p>\r\n

 <\/p>\r\n

1<\/span>.Eligible students for the \u201cQuota for Privately-funded International Students\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Privately-funded International Students who are enrolled in Kumamoto University Graduate School Doctoral Courses as of May 1, 2024, and who participate in core research (including Core Research Projects of the Graduate Schools of Kumamoto University) (including students who participate in the Global COE program in the past)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

However, this excludes cases involving another scholarship program where the holders are prohibited from receiving another scholarship.<\/p>\r\n

To check the availability of multiple scholarships with (KDS) and another (other) program(s), see the \u201cArrangement List for Combined Grants of KDS with Other Financial Support Programs\u201d attached to this document.<\/p>\r\n

\r\nCore research funded by a large-scale competitive grant includes research adopted for a large-scale fund by such organizations as Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology (CREST), \u201cSakigake\u201d Project, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), Funding Program for Next Generation World Leading Researchers(NEXT Program), MEXT and MHLW. If you are an privately-funded international students who belongs to multiple COEs (ex. CREST and Core Research Project A\/B), please enter all the COEs in the \u201cletter of recommendation\u201d (form 3)<\/p>\r\n

2<\/span>.Amount of scholarship<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2) Students who wish to apply for this program should prepare the necessary documents after confirming their eligibility and submit them with a Letter of Recommendation from their supervisors. The reason for recommending the student in form 3 should be entered by a representative of each field, which also applies to the reason to recommend the student in form 1 of the application form. Approval of the applications of eligible privately-funded international students who serve as the representative of their respective COEs will be confirmed by the Student Affairs Section.<\/u><\/p>\r\n
