The mission of the School of Medicine is to educate students to become medical doctors and researchers who have rich humanity and high ethical standards, and pursue and achieve social missions in the medical sciences and related fields.

To achieve our mission, the School of Medicine has established “Education Outcomes of the School of Medicine of Kumamoto University,” which stipulates the abilities that students of the School of Medicine should acquire before graduation. The Education Outcomes consist of seven categories of core education outcomes (A: Rich humanity, B: Basic examination ability, C: Self-training and professionalism, D: Practice of team-based and trustworthy medical care, E: Medical scientific research, F: International outlook, G: Community medicine and social contributions) and 50 education outcome subcategories within the seven categories. The curriculum of the School of Medicine is designed to assist students in studying and gradually achieving education outcomes as they progress to the following year and complete all the education outcomes before graduating.

To achieve our mission, the School of Medicine has established “Education Outcomes of the School of Medicine of Kumamoto University.” The degree of Bachelor of Medicine is awarded to those who have earned the required credits by completing the course of education designed to achieve the seven categories of core education outcomes (A: Rich humanity, B: Basic examination ability, C: Self-training and professionalism, D: Practice of team-based and trustworthy medical care, E: Medical scientific research, F: International outlook, G: Community medicine and social contributions) and 50 education outcome subcategories within the seven categories, and who have completed the education outcomes.
