The sperm is the cell to deliver the genetic information to next generations. The cell adhesion molecules between spermatogenic and Sertoli cells as well as paracrine and intratesticular local factors are required for the regulation of spermatogenesis. We research the roles of many cell adhesion molecules expressed in seminiferous epithelium. It is not really known whether cell adhesion molecules relate with paracrine or local factors in spermatogenesis. The causes of male infertility are the disorders of spermatogenesis, in which the molecular mechanism remains to be identified. The cell adhesion molecules involved in the interaction between spermatogenic and Sertoli cells are potential causes of abnormal spermatogenesis.
