The department of molecular laboratory medicine is established for elucidating mechanisms underlying various diseases at molecular level aiming at the development of new diagnostic strategies that can be utilized for clinical applications. The projects in this department are as follows; 1. The development of tumor markers for early diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome, 2. The elucidation of molecular mechanisms by which ribosomal stress affects hematopoiesis and oncogenesis in hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, 3. Basic research in the tumor cell dormancy and its involvement in the metastasis and recurrence, 4. The elucidation of mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases by means of physiological approaches. Our research approaches include "omics" technologies such as genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics.
